Disclaimer
Ripple of History is a personal history channel. It is made to be watched, argued with, and occasionally corrected — not treated as a sealed academic source or as advice you should act on.
Educational and editorial content
This website, the On This Day calendar, the films, and the shorts are provided for general information, education and entertainment. They are the editorial work of Daniel Sellings, trading as Ripple of History, based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, United Kingdom.
Nothing here is legal, medical, financial, military, academic or professional advice. If you need advice of that kind, speak to someone qualified to give it.
Accuracy
History is large and the daily short is two minutes. Dates, names, casualty figures and causes are summarised. Primary sources disagree. Later scholarship revises the story. I aim to be careful. I do not claim to be complete, peer-reviewed, or free of error.
The calendar is a starting point, not a textbook. Events are selected and written in a personal voice. If something is wrong, email rippleofhistory@gmail.com with the date and a source. I will correct the record when I should.
Opinions and tone
Commentary, jokes, and asides are mine. They are not the views of any museum, broadcaster, archive, airshow, or the people quoted. Historical figures are discussed, sometimes irreverently. That is criticism and review, not an invitation to harass the living.
Third-party material
Videos play from YouTube. Titles, thumbnails and view counts belong to that platform and to their uploaders. Readings and quotations (including wartime speeches and published oral history) are used for criticism, review, quotation and news reporting under UK fair dealing where that applies. Credits belong with the original authors, estates and publishers. Max Arthur’s Forgotten Voices and similar works remain their copyright.
External links — YouTube, X, Substack, Buy Me a Coffee and anywhere else — are not endorsements. I am not responsible for their content, availability, or how they handle your data. Read their terms.
Airshows, sites and the living
Airbourne and other displays are filmed from public vantage points as a visitor. Those events have their own safety rules and rights. Do not copy a camera angle into a restricted area. Site visits to churches, forts and memorials are personal documentary, not official guides.
No warranty
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. I do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, virus-free, or that every calendar day will have a matching short. To the fullest extent permitted by English law, I am not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site — except that nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be excluded.
